Create a pathway

1. Navigate to the side panel

2. Click the ‘Pathways’ tab

3. Click the ‘+ Add pathways’ button

4. Click the ‘Create new pathway’ button

5. You will be redirected to your empty pathway page

6. You can now find your pathway at the top of the pathways list on the ‘Pathway summary page’

7. Click the pathway title from the list to visit the pathway page to open your pathway

Pathway metadata is shown as you click the ‘Pathway Details’ of your selected pathway

Name or rename a pathway

1. To change the title and/or description, click directly onto the title or description of your selected pathway

2. Input a name or description which will make the pathway easily identifiable e.g. “Project Management for beginners”

3. Click on the check mark to save

Avoid pathway names like: ‘John’s first pathway’ or ‘Pathway 1”

Add assets to a pathway using the ‘Get recommended assets’ feature

Once you’ve named your pathway, you will be able to use the ‘Get recommended assets’ feature to get algorithmic suggestions of assets which you can use to build out your pathway.

Natural Language Algorithm (NLA 2.0): This algorithm looks at the asset’s text and assigns a score based on how similar the asset’s meaning is to the meaning of the short phrase. This score is then converted into a relevance rating between 0 and 1, with a high rating meaning the asset is mainly about the skill, and a lower rating meaning the asset is only partially or tangentially related to the skill. In our most recent assessment of the algorithm’s performance, it performed more accurately than most human curators.

1. Scroll the bottom of the page to view the ‘Get recommended assets’ feature

2. Input a phrase in the ‘Short phrase for pathway’ box and click the ‘Generate’ button. Repeat this process as many times as desired to find the content that suits your needs.

3. Add your chosen asset by clicking the blue ‘Add’ button in the leftmost column

4. Use ‘Filters’ and ‘Columns’ to refine your suggestions

If your pathway includes sections, the ‘Add’ button will place your asset in the first section. For more information, visit the ‘Pathway Sections’ guide.

Add assets to a pathway or create a new pathway using the ‘Assets’ tab

You can add assets to an existing pathway or create a pathway from scratch by using the ‘Assets’ tab, located at the top of the side panel.

1. Navigate to the side panel

2. Click the ‘Assets’ tab

3. Use the ‘Skills group’ dropdown menu to select a skill group

4. Use the ’Skill’ dropdown menu to select a skill

5. Use the leftmost ‘checkboxes’ to select assets

6. Once selected, click the ‘Add to pathway’ button at the bottom of your screen to add the asset to the pathway of your choice or:

7. Use the popup modal to search for an existing pathway or input a new pathway name and click ‘Create’

8. Use ‘Filters’ and ‘Columns’ to refine your suggestions
